  • Plastic Sulfur: Properties, Color, and Industrial Uses
Plastic sulfur or beta-rhombic sulfur is yellow in color. It is a brittle solid with a relatively low melting point of 119.6°C (247.3°F) and a high boiling point of 444.6°C (832.3°F). Plastic sulfur is the most stable allotrope of sulfur and is found in nature as the mineral orthorhombic sulfur or α-sulfur. It is also produced synthetically and has a wide range of industrial applications, such as in the production of sulfuric acid, rubber, and gunpowder.
