  • Safe & Effective Fire Starting: Understanding Methods & Materials
Naphtha, quicklime, and block sulfur are not typically used together to make fire. Instead, a common method for starting a fire involves using tinder, kindling, and fuel. Tinder is a highly flammable material that easily catches fire, such as dry leaves, small pieces of wood, or paper. Kindling consists of slightly larger pieces of wood that help the fire grow stronger. Fuel is the main heat source and can include larger logs, branches, or charcoal. To start a fire, you would gather your tinder, kindling, and fuel, arrange them in a teepee shape, and use a match or lighter to ignite the tinder. Be sure to practice fire safety precautions, such as building your fire in a safe location and away from flammable materials, and never leaving a fire unattended.
