AgNO3 (aq) + BaCl2 (aq) → Ba(NO3)2 (s) + 2AgCl (s)
In this reaction, silver nitrate and barium chloride exchange their anions to form barium nitrate and silver chloride. Silver chloride is also a white precipitate, but it is less soluble in water than barium nitrate. Therefore, the predominant precipitate in this reaction is barium nitrate.
