  • Why Gas Fills Any Container: Understanding Gas Particle Behavior
The particles of a gas have no fixed volume or shape (very little intermolecular bonding), and move independently of each other in straight lines until they collide with another particle or the walls of the container. Gas particles move quickly and with enough force to overcome gravity. Because of this, gas particles are able to move freely and can easily fill a container of any shape or size.
