  • Density: Calculating Mass per Volume - Definition & Examples
When we divide the mass of a substance by its volume, we get its density. Density is a measure of how much matter is packed into a given amount of space. It is expressed in units of mass per unit of volume. For example, the density of water is 1 gram per cubic centimeter (g/cm3). This means that for every cubic centimeter of water, there is 1 gram of mass.
