  • Surface Tension: Understanding the Skin-Like Properties of Liquids
    Surface tension.

Surface tension is the force that acts on the surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an external force. This property of liquids is caused by the cohesive forces between the molecules of the liquid, which are stronger than the adhesive forces between the liquid and its surroundings. This phenomenon is what causes water droplets to form and remain intact, and also allows for phenomena like water being able to support the weight of objects such as insects.
