  • Isotonic Solutions: Understanding Cell Equilibrium
When solute concentrations inside and outside the cell are equal, the cell is in isotonic solution. In an isotonic solution, there is no net movement of water into or out of the cell, as the concentration gradients of solutes on both sides of the cell membrane are balanced. This means that the cell will maintain its original size and shape, and there will be no changes in its internal structures or functions.
