  • Catabolic Reactions: Products, Byproducts, and Their Role
    The final products of catabolic reactions are energy, in the form of ATP, and simpler molecules. These simpler molecules can be used as building blocks for anabolic reactions, or they can be excreted from the body as waste.

    Some examples of the final products of catabolic reactions include:

    * Carbon dioxide (CO2)

    * Water (H2O)

    * Ammonia (NH3)

    * Urea

    * Creatinine

    * Bilirubin

    * Ketone bodies

    These products are all produced by the breakdown of larger molecules, such as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. The process of catabolism releases energy from these larger molecules, which can then be used to power the body's activities.
