  • HBr vs. HCl: Which is the Stronger Acid? | Chemistry Explained
HBr is not a stronger acid than HCl. In fact, HCl is a stronger acid than HBr. This can be seen from their respective acid dissociation constants (Ka values). The Ka value for HCl is 1.0 x 10^6, while the Ka value for HBr is 2.0 x 10^-9. The higher the Ka value, the stronger the acid. Therefore, HCl is a stronger acid than HBr.
