  • Atoms: The Fundamental Building Blocks of Solids, Liquids, and Gases
The common denominator in solids, liquids, and gases is atoms. All matter is made up of atoms, which are the basic building blocks of matter. In solids, atoms are tightly packed together and held in place by strong interatomic forces. In liquids, atoms are still held together by strong interatomic forces, but they are able to move around more freely. In gases, atoms are far apart and have very weak interatomic forces.
