  • Hypertonic Solutions: Definition & Understanding
The term that describes a solution with a higher concentration of dissolved substances relative to another solution is "hypertonic". In a hypertonic solution, the solute concentration is higher compared to the solvent, resulting in a higher osmotic pressure. This difference in osmotic pressure causes water molecules to move from an area of lower solute concentration (hypotonic solution) to an area of higher solute concentration (hypertonic solution) in an attempt to reach equilibrium.
