pH Test:
1. Obtain pH test strips or a pH meter.
2. Dip the pH test strip into each solution and compare the color change to the pH scale provided.
3. If the solution turns the pH strip red or orange, it's acidic (pH below 7).
Litmus Test:
1. Obtain red and blue litmus papers.
2. Dip a clean stirring rod into the solution and then touch it to the litmus papers.
3. If the red litmus paper turns blue, the solution is basic. If the blue litmus paper turns red, the solution is acidic.
Universal Indicator:
1. Add a few drops of universal indicator to each solution.
2. Observe the color change and compare it to the color chart provided with the universal indicator.
3. Acidic solutions will typically produce a red or orange color, while neutral solutions will be green, and basic solutions will be blue or purple.
It's important to handle the solutions with care and avoid skin or eye contact. Additionally, always rinse the stirring rod or pH probe thoroughly with distilled water between tests to prevent cross-contamination.
