  • Phase Changes: Physical vs. Chemical - Understanding the Difference
Phase changes are physical changes in the state of matter of a substance. They do not involve a change in the chemical composition of the substance, so they are not chemical changes.

For example, when water freezes, it changes from a liquid to a solid, but it is still composed of the same molecules of H2O. This is a physical change.
