  • Glowing Splinter Test: Detecting Oxygen - Procedure & Results
    The glowing splinter test is used to test for the presence of oxygen. A glowing splinter of wood is inserted into the test tube containing the gas. If the splinter reignites or continues to burn, oxygen is present.

    Observation:

    * Positive result: The glowing splinter reignites or continues to burn brightly.

    * Negative result: The glowing splinter goes out or glows dimly.
