  • Understanding Atomic Structure: The Location of Protons
Protons are found in the nucleus of an atom. The nucleus is the central core of an atom, which contains most of its mass and is composed of protons and neutrons. Protons have a positive electric charge, while neutrons have no charge. Electrons, which have a negative electric charge, orbit around the nucleus in shells or energy levels.
