  • Salt and Water: Physical Change or Chemical Reaction?
Mixing salt and water is a physical change, not chemical. When salt is dissolved in water, it forms a homogeneous mixture called saltwater. In this mixtures the salt retains its chemical properties and can be separated from water through evaporation or distillation.

Chemical changes, on the other hand, involve the rearranging or breaking of chemical bonds, resulting in the formation of new substances with different chemical properties.
