  • Melting Point: Understanding the Solid-to-Liquid Phase Change
A substance changes from a solid to liquid upon reaching its melting point. The melting point of a substance is the temperature at which it transitions from a solid to a liquid state under atmospheric pressure. When the temperature of a solid reaches its melting point, the internal kinetic energy of the particles increases, causing the solid structure to break down and transition into a liquid state, where the particles have more freedom to move.
