Sulphur or sulfur is a chemical element with the symbol S and atomic number 16. It is a multivalent nonmetal of Group 16 (the oxygen group) that is abundant in the universe but relatively rare in Earth's crust. Elemental sulfur is a bright yellow crystalline solid at room temperature.
