  • Metallic Bonding in Solids: Properties and Explanation
    Metallic bonding

Metallic bonding is the strongest type of bonding and is what holds together atoms in metals. It occurs when metal atoms give up their outermost electrons to form a "sea" of electrons that flows freely between the atoms. This sea of electrons is what gives metals their characteristic properties, such as high electrical and thermal conductivity.
