Aluminum nitride is an inorganic compound with the formula AlN. It is a colourless to pale yellow solid that is insoluble in water and most organic solvents. It is a semiconductor with a wide band gap (6.2 eV) and a high thermal conductivity (320 W/m·K). It is used in the production of high-temperature crucibles, electronic substrates, and abrasives.
The ionic compound for aluminum and nitride is aluminum nitride (AlN). It is a binary compound composed of aluminum ions (Al3+) and nitride ions (N3-). The chemical formula of aluminum nitride is AlN.
