    The majority of the elements in the universe are made of hydrogen and helium. These two elements make up over 99% of the universe's mass. Hydrogen is the most abundant element, making up about 73% of the universe's mass. Helium is the second most abundant element, making up about 25% of the universe's mass. All other elements make up less than 2% of the universe's mass.
