  • Magnetite Ore: Iron Extraction and Steel Production
Magnetite is a naturally occurring iron oxide mineral. It is the most magnetic of all the naturally occurring minerals on Earth.

Magnetite is a source of iron ore. When magnetite is heated in a furnace, the oxygen atoms are removed and the iron atoms are left behind. This process is called smelting. The iron atoms can then be used to make steel.
