  • Reaction of Hydrochloric Acid with Zinc: Products and Equation
The reaction between 2HCL (hydrochloric acid) and Zn (zinc) results in the formation of zinc chloride (ZnCl2) and hydrogen gas (H2). The chemical equation for this reaction is:

    2HCl + Zn → ZnCl2 + H2

In this reaction, the two moles of hydrochloric acid react with one mole of zinc to produce one mole of zinc chloride and one mole of hydrogen gas. The reaction proceeds through a process called a single displacement reaction, where the more reactive metal (zinc in this case) displaces the less reactive metal (hydrogen) from the compound.
