Ionic Compounds: Metal & Non-Metal Composition - Exceptions Explained

It is not true for all ionic compounds that they contain a metal and a non-metal.

While many ionic compounds do fit this pattern, there are some exceptions. For example, ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) is an ionic compound that contains two non-metals, nitrogen and chlorine.
