  • Ethane Bonds: Types and Characteristics (C-C & C-H)
    In an ethane molecule (C2H6), there are two types of bonds:

    1. Carbon-Carbon (C-C) Bond: This is the primary bond in ethane. It is a covalent bond formed by the sharing of electrons between the two carbon atoms. The carbon-carbon bond in ethane is a sigma (σ) bond, meaning that the electron density is concentrated between the nuclei of the two carbon atoms.

    2. Carbon-Hydrogen (C-H) Bond: This is the secondary bond in ethane. It is also a covalent bond formed by the sharing of electrons between carbon and hydrogen atoms. The carbon-hydrogen bonds in ethane are also sigma (σ) bonds.

    In summary, there are two types of bonds present in an ethane molecule: the carbon-carbon bond and the carbon-hydrogen bond.
