Oxidized wine is a homogeneous mixture because the oxygen has been evenly distributed throughout the wine. This can be seen by the fact that the color of the wine is consistent throughout. In contrast, a heterogeneous mixture is a mixture of two or more substances that are not evenly distributed throughout the mixture. For example, a mixture of sand and water is a heterogeneous mixture because the sand and water are not evenly distributed throughout the mixture. This can be seen by the fact that the sand settles to the bottom of the mixture.
