Salt, also known as sodium chloride (NaCl), is composed of two elements: sodium (Na) and chlorine (Cl). Sodium is a soft, silvery-white metal, and chlorine is a greenish-yellow gas. When these two elements are combined in a 1:1 ratio, they form sodium chloride, which is salt.
