  • Polyprotic Acids: Definition, Examples & Properties
    Polyprotic acids

Acids that have three or more elements are called polyprotic acids. Polyprotic acids can donate more than one proton (H+) per molecule. For example, sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is a diprotic acid because it can donate two protons per molecule, while phosphoric acid (H3PO4) is a triprotic acid because it can donate three protons per molecule.
