  • Chlorine Gas Reaction with Starch-Iodide Paper: A Scientific Explanation
The gas that turns moist starch iodide paper blue black is chlorine gas. Chlorine is a highly reactive element that can react with many other elements and compounds. When chlorine gas comes into contact with moist starch iodide paper, it reacts with the potassium iodide in the paper to form iodine. The iodine then reacts with the starch in the paper to form a deep blue-black colour.
