  • Endothermic or Exothermic? Understanding Water Boiling
The boiling of water is an endothermic process. This means that it takes in heat from the surroundings in order to happen. This is because the water molecules need to absorb energy in order to break the bonds that hold them together as a liquid and turn into a gas. The heat that is absorbed by the water comes from the heat source that is used to boil the water, such as a stove or a kettle.
