  • Understanding Reduced Ion Exchange Rates in Capacity Resin
The rate of exchange ions is much reduced when the capacity resin has almost been reached because the resin beads become saturated with ions. This means that there are fewer sites on the resin beads available to exchange ions with the solution, so the rate of exchange slows down. Additionally, the concentration of ions in the solution decreases as the resin beads become saturated, which further reduces the rate of exchange.
