  • Understanding the Attraction Between Water and Oxygen Molecules
Water and oxygen do attract each other. The oxygen atom in a water molecule is slightly positive and the hydrogen atoms are slightly negative, so they attract each other. This is why water molecules stick together and form a liquid. However, the attraction between water and oxygen molecules is not as strong as the attraction between water molecules themselves, so water and oxygen do not form a chemical bond.
