Coffee State: Liquid vs. Solid - Understanding Coffee Beans & Brew
Coffee, the drink, is a liquid, whether it is hot or cold. Ground coffee beans, on the other hand, are solid at room temperature. Coffee beans are the seeds of a fruit called a coffee cherry. When the coffee cherries are ripe, the beans are removed and processed to remove the pulp and hulls. The resulting beans are then roasted to varying degrees, depending on the desired flavour and caffeine content.
