  • Cough Syrup: Understanding Suspension vs. Solution
    Suspension

A suspension is a heterogeneous mixture in which solid particles are dispersed throughout a liquid. The solid particles in a suspension are usually larger than the molecules in a solution and will eventually settle out of the liquid if left undisturbed. Cough syrup is a suspension because it contains solid particles, such as sugar and flavorings, that are dispersed throughout a liquid.
