  • PVC: Polymer or Compound? Understanding Its Nature
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a synthetic polymer and is neither a compound nor a mixture. It is created by polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer. A polymer is a large molecule made up of repeating subunits. In PVC, the repeating subunit is the vinyl chloride monomer.

Compounds are substances made up of two or more elements chemically bonded together in a fixed ratio by mass. Mixtures are combinations of two or more substances that are not chemically bonded together and can be separated by physical means.
