    When two complementary colors are combined in equal amounts, they will produce a neutral color, such as black, gray, or brown. For example, mixing red and green will create a dark, muddy brown. Mixing blue and orange will result in a grayish brown, while mixing yellow and purple will create a muddy olive green.
