  • Cell Division: Growth, Repair & Development - A Comprehensive Overview
Here are two reasons why cells divide:

    1. Growth and Development: Multicellular organisms start as a single cell and need to grow larger. Cell division is the process that allows them to increase in size and complexity. For example, a fertilized egg divides repeatedly to form a baby.

    2. Repair and Replacement: Our bodies are constantly experiencing wear and tear. Cells can get damaged or die, so cell division is essential to replace these damaged cells and maintain tissue health. For instance, our skin cells are constantly being replaced by new cells created through division.
