  • Mitosis: What Do Daughter Cells Inherit? Chromosomes, Organelles & More
When a cell undergoes mitosis, the daughter cells must inherit the following:

    * A complete set of chromosomes: The parent cell replicates its DNA, ensuring that each daughter cell receives an identical copy of the entire genome.

    * Organelles: These are the functional units of the cell, such as mitochondria, ribosomes, and Golgi apparatus. They are duplicated during the cell cycle and distributed to the daughter cells.

    * Cytoplasm: The fluid that fills the cell and contains the organelles.

    * Plasma membrane: The outer boundary of the cell that regulates what enters and exits.

Essentially, the daughter cells inherit everything necessary to function as independent cells.
