  • Chloroplasts: The Powerhouses That Feed Plants - Understanding Photosynthesis
    The cells that make food for plants are called chloroplasts.

    Here's why:

    * Chloroplasts contain a green pigment called chlorophyll.

    * Chlorophyll absorbs sunlight.

    * Photosynthesis is the process where plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create their own food (sugar) and oxygen. This process occurs in the chloroplasts.

    So, while the whole plant needs to work together to survive, it's the chloroplasts that are the tiny factories making the plant's food!
