  • Cell Division: Mitosis & Meiosis Explained - How Cells Replicate
The process in which cells can copy themselves is called cell division.

There are two main types of cell division:

    * Mitosis: This is the process by which a single cell divides into two identical daughter cells. It's used for growth, repair, and asexual reproduction.

    * Meiosis: This is the process by which a single cell divides into four non-identical daughter cells. It's used for sexual reproduction, creating gametes (sperm and egg cells) with half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell.
