  • Excretory System Organs: Functions & Overview
The organs of the excretory system are:

    1. Kidneys:

    * Primary organs of excretion: Filter waste products from the blood and produce urine.

    * Regulate blood volume and pressure: By adjusting the amount of water and electrolytes excreted.

    * Maintain blood pH: By excreting acids and bases.

    2. Ureters:

    * Two tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder.

    3. Urinary Bladder:

    * Stores urine until it is ready to be eliminated.

    4. Urethra:

    * Tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body.

    Other organs involved in excretion:

    * Lungs: Excrete carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapor.

    * Skin: Excretes sweat, which contains water, salts, and urea.

    * Liver: Processes waste products and produces bile, which is excreted into the small intestine.

    * Large intestine: Absorbs water and electrolytes from undigested food and forms feces.

It's important to note that while the kidneys are the main organs of excretion, other organs play a supporting role in eliminating waste products from the body.
