  • Charles Darwin & Alfred Russel Wallace: Pioneers of Evolution by Natural Selection
The two scientists credited with developing the theory of evolution by natural selection are Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace.

While Darwin is often solely associated with the theory, Wallace independently developed a very similar idea around the same time. Both men presented their findings at a meeting of the Linnean Society in 1858, and Darwin later published his book "On the Origin of Species" in 1859, which provided detailed evidence and arguments supporting the theory.
