  • Mitosis: Which Cells Undergo Cell Division?
Mitosis occurs in all eukaryotic cells that are capable of dividing. This includes:

    * Somatic cells: These are all the cells in the body except for sex cells (sperm and egg). Examples include skin cells, muscle cells, and nerve cells.

    * Germ cells: These are the cells that give rise to sperm and egg cells. However, mitosis only occurs in the germ cells before they differentiate into sperm or egg cells.

It's important to note that mitosis does not occur in prokaryotic cells, which lack a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles. They divide through a process called binary fission.
