There are three types of muscle tissue:
* Skeletal muscle: This is the type of muscle that is attached to bones and allows for voluntary movement.
* Smooth muscle: This type of muscle is found in the walls of internal organs like the stomach and intestines, and is responsible for involuntary movements like digestion.
* Cardiac muscle: This type of muscle is found only in the heart and is responsible for pumping blood throughout the body.
All three types of muscle tissue contain specialized proteins called actin and myosin that interact to cause the muscle fibers to shorten and contract.
