Robert Hooke: Discoverer of Cells - A Scientific Breakthrough
The scientist who first saw cork cells was Robert Hooke.
He observed them in 1665 while looking at a thin slice of cork under a microscope. He was fascinated by the small, box-like compartments he saw and named them "cells" because they reminded him of the cells in a monastery.
