  • Understanding Mitosis: The Formation of Somatic Cells
    Mitosis produces two daughter cells that are genetically identical to the parent cell. These daughter cells are called somatic cells, which are any biological cells forming the body of a multicellular organism other than gametes, germ cells, gametocytes or undifferentiated stem cells.

    Here are some examples of somatic cells:

    * Skin cells

    * Muscle cells

    * Blood cells

    * Nerve cells

    * Bone cells

    Essentially, any cell in your body that isn't involved in sexual reproduction is produced through mitosis.
