  • Nucleoid: Location of Genetic Material in Prokaryotic Cells
The structure or region of cytoplasm in prokaryotic cells that contains their genetic material is called the nucleoid.

It's important to note that the nucleoid is not a membrane-bound nucleus like in eukaryotic cells. Instead, it's a dense, irregularly shaped region within the cytoplasm where the prokaryotic DNA is located. The DNA is usually a single, circular chromosome that is supercoiled and associated with proteins.
