  • Plant Cell Organelles: Unique Structures & Functions
Here are the organelles found only in plant cells:

    * Chloroplasts: These are the sites of photosynthesis, where sunlight is converted into chemical energy. They contain chlorophyll, the pigment that gives plants their green color.

    * Cell Wall: A rigid outer layer made of cellulose that provides structural support and protection.

    * Vacuoles: Large, fluid-filled sacs that store water, nutrients, and waste products. They also play a role in maintaining turgor pressure, which helps keep the plant upright.

    * Plasmodesmata: Small channels that connect the cytoplasm of adjacent plant cells, allowing for communication and the exchange of materials.

While some animal cells may have small vacuoles, the large central vacuole that dominates plant cells is unique to them.
