  • Where Does DNA Replication Happen? Understanding Eukaryotic Cell Nucleus
DNA replication in eukaryotic cells occurs in the nucleus.

    Here's why:

    * DNA Location: The majority of the cell's DNA is located within the nucleus, organized into chromosomes.

    * Replication Machinery: The enzymes and proteins necessary for DNA replication are also located in the nucleus.

    * Nuclear Envelope: The nucleus is surrounded by a double membrane called the nuclear envelope, which regulates the movement of molecules in and out of the nucleus. This ensures that the replication process is confined to the nucleus.

While some DNA replication can occur in mitochondria, the primary site for DNA replication in eukaryotic cells is the nucleus.
