Ribose vs. Deoxyribose: Understanding the Difference in RNA and DNA
RNA contains ribose.
DNA contains deoxyribose.
The difference is that ribose has a hydroxyl group (-OH) attached to the 2' carbon atom, while deoxyribose has a hydrogen atom (-H) at the 2' position. This difference is why DNA is called "deoxyribonucleic acid".
